Oranges are the official state fruit of Florida, and orange juice is the official state beverage. In fact, 74% of oranges grown in the United States come from Florida (though 2010 was a bad year for Florida’s citrus crop).
So for Florida State it made sense to make a drink that highlighted Florida’s love affair with the orange: mimosas.
