The Edible Bracket 2011

Last year's winners of the MNCAAPG Best Bracket contest are back. This March Madness season, we will be documenting foods associated with the competing schools. Consider it March Madness, Top Chef Edition.

Utah States Aggies (Logan, UT): Fry Sauce

With not one but two Utah teams likely to make the NCAA tournament this year, we were skeptical about whether we would be able to endure two dishes involving green Jell-o (Utah’s “Official State Snack”), when we stumbled upon a Utah delicacy: Fry Sauce.  It turns out that 2 parts mayonnaise + 1 part ketchup = delicious.  Fry Sauce was, as the story goes, created by the Arctic Circle chain of restaurants, which—despite its name—is a Utah chain.  (Note that the picture above shows our fry sauce next to a glass of wine, which really undercuts the authenticity of this picture as Arctic Circle, in true Utah fashion, does not serve alcohol.)

Fry Sauce

Mix together 2 parts mayonnaise and 1 part ketchup.  That’s it.
