Agriculturally, Michigan is known for its production of tart cherries and peppermint. But for most Americans, Michigan’s most important food product is cereal. Kellogg’s headquarters is located in Battle Creek, Michigan—only about 50 miles from where the Spartans play. And if our college experience is anything to go by, those basketball players are eating pounds of Kellogg’s products daily. So it was for that reason we decided to make some Rice Krispie Treats—a good old midwestern dessert—in honor of the Spartans.
Kelloggs Rice Krispie Treats
1.5 tbsps. butter
1/2 package (about 25) big marshmallows
3 cups Rice Krispies
Melt butter in large saucepan over heat. Once butter is melted, stir in marshmallows till they’re melted too. Removed pan from heat and stir in Rice Krispies. Using wax paper to avoid stickiness, press mixture into a greased 8x8 pan. When cool, cut into squares.
You’ll have a bunch of Rice Krispie Treats, but for a more “spartan” approach, serve each treat on its own plate.
